Connection mode between engine and generator:

1. Flexible connection (connect the two parts with coupling)

2. Rigid connection: high-strength bolts are used to connect the generator rigid connecting piece with the engine flywheel plate. After the connection, it is placed on the common underframe, and then equipped with various sensors (oil probe, water temperature probe, oil pressure probe, etc.) for protection. The control system displays the working status of various sensors. The control system is connected with the generator and sensor through cables to display data.

Working principle of generator set:

The diesel engine drives the generator to run, and converts the energy of diesel into electrical energy in the diesel engine cylinder. The clean air filtered by the air filter is fully mixed with the high-pressure atomized diesel fuel injected from the fuel injection nozzle. Under the upward extrusion of the piston, the volume shrinks and the temperature rises rapidly, reaching the ignition point of diesel fuel.

The diesel fuel is ignited, the mixed gas burns violently, the volume expands rapidly, and pushes the piston downward, which is called 'work'. Each cylinder works in a certain order. The thrust acting on the piston becomes the force that drives the crankshaft to rotate through the connecting rod, thus driving the crankshaft to rotate.

When the brushless synchronous alternator is installed coaxially with the crankshaft of the diesel engine, the rotation of the diesel engine can be used to drive the rotor of the generator. Using the principle of 'electromagnetic induction', the generator will output the induced electromotive force, and the current can be generated through the closed load circuit.

Only the fairly basic working principle of the generator set is described here. In order to obtain usable and stable power output, a series of diesel engine and generator control and protection devices and circuits are required.

If the diesel engine runs continuously for more than 12h, its output power will be lower than about 90% of the rated power of the diesel generator. Generally, the diesel engine is a single cylinder or multi cylinder four stroke diesel engine. Let me just talk about the basic working principle of the single cylinder four stroke diesel engine: diesel engine starting is to rotate the diesel engine crankshaft manually or by other power to make the piston reciprocating up and down in the top closed cylinder.

The piston completes four strokes in motion: intake stroke, compression stroke, combustion and work (expansion) stroke and exhaust stroke. When the piston moves up and down, the inlet valve opens, and the fresh air filtered by the air filter enters the cylinder to complete the intake stroke.

The piston moves from bottom to top, the intake and exhaust valves are closed, the air is compressed, the temperature and pressure increase, and the compression process is completed. When the piston is about to reach a certain peak, the fuel injector sprays the filtered fuel into the combustion chamber in the form of mist and mixes it with high temperature and high pressure air to ignite and burn automatically immediately. The high pressure formed pushes the piston to work downward, drives the crankshaft to rotate, and completes the work stroke.
